Item Soft Switching of 5 Level Inverter(2020-10-07T06:35:05Z) PRABHU, RITHESH R; BHIMAPPA BAYANNAVAR, MANJUNATH; K, NATARAJAn inverter is an electrical device which is used to transform a direct current (DC) source into an alternating current (AC) source by electronic components like switch. When converting DC to AC, it is conceivable to gain the preferred output voltage and frequency by two types of inverters, one of it is two level and another one is multi-level inverter (MLI). The multilevel inverter are used in many applications which include motor drives, power conditioning devices, renewable energy generation and distribution. PWM inverters are used to can output voltage simultaneously and it can lower the amount of harmonics in output current that results in better THD content. In multilevel inverter Cascaded H-Bridge inverter is more efficient when compared to the other types of Multi- level inverter. Some of the advantages of MLI are Minimum total harmonic distortion, reduced EMI and it could be operated on different voltage levels. In this project MOSFETs are used as switches, here Simulation of single phase 5- level cascaded Multi-level inverter with separate DC sources is done. By choosing the microcontroller design implemented a 5-level pulse-width modulation technique for greater efficiency. Standard high voltage components was chosen for the MOSFET drivers. There has been Several multilevel topologies developed, but when the output voltage levels increases, it also increases the number of switches, number of independent dc sources, switching stresses, losses, voltage unbalancing across capacitors etc.
