    Road Quality Mapping
(2019-07-22T09:48:18Z) AAKARSH, SAGAR; ASHISH, MUTHANNA; ALLEN ANTONY, MATHEW; SUBHASH, RAJAN
The number of potholes in India is immeasurable and is a danger to motorists. As many as 3,597 fatalities have been recorded in India in 2017 alone due to accidents caused by potholes. The aim of this project is to create a system in which sensors are used to read the movement of a vehicle and its location when it runs over a pothole. This data is then sent to a computer or smartphone wirelessly where the information can be graphically presented on a map which is used for navigational purposes. The method proposed uses a gyroscope sensor and GPS to make a map of roads, with an added layer to the map which tells the quality of the roads. In this way, the commuter will know if the pothole constitutes a danger or not according to its depth and the speed of the vehicle. This information will also help the commuter to plan a journey better.
