Item Stress Strain Analysis of Different Coatings Using Fem and Ansys(2018-06-22T12:04:20Z) Abhishek D, Jagtap; Dheeraj, Reddy P; Harsha, P; Akshay Kumar, K RCoatings significantly influence the machining performances of tool by acting as a thermal barrier and by enhancing the wear resistance. To model how coatings influence the tool loading, analytical and numerical approaches have been proposed to gain understanding on the effect of coatings on the tool loadings. A detailed stress strain analysis is performed to study the deformation of aluminium metal coated with thin layer of metals like aluminium oxide (Al2o3), silicon carbide (SiC) and titanium carbonitride (TiCN). The substrate is designed to withstand maximum load to avoid deformation or the inner metal should undergo less deformation. The thin layer of metal coating takes maximum load compared to inner metal. For the given loading condition compressive stress-strain and shear stress-strain with respect to each metal coating is calculated using ANSYS software. Distribution of stress and strain has been estimated using finite element modelling methods the complementary analysis is carried out using ANSYS software. Further the surface related properties like hardness and wear test is carried out. The study results may be beneficial in selecting the best metal to be coated on metal to avoid deformation. The main emphasis is placed on the study of mechanical behaviour coatings obtained by means of using a commercial code, ANSYS on aluminium and surfaces and the results are verified using FEM.
