    Design of Earth Mat, Fault Level Calculation and Relay Co-Ordination for 220kv Sub Station

    In a substation, earthing system is essential not only to provide the protection of people working in the vicinity of earthed facilities and equipments against danger of electric shock but to maintain proper function of electrical system. • This project presents the design of earthing system including the earth mat/grid for a 220 kvsubstation as per the international standards and the fault level calculations. Simulation for calculation of the required parameters using MAT Lab/ETAP DEMO. • The supporting data will be obtained from the actual field tested at the substation. Standard equations are used in the design of the earthing system to get the desired parameters such as earth resistance, grid resistance, maximum fault current level, resistivity of the soil, etc. This project also mentions the study details of the existing 11 kV substation, relay coordination of the existing network and the design for the new 220 kV substation.
