    Brain abscess or cerebral abscess is caused by inflammation and collection of infected material due to the microorganisms within the brain tissue. Brain abscess can also be caused by infection in the ear, dental abscess, infection of sinuses etc. Brain abscess is associated with congenital heart disease in young children, 50-75% of the cases are seen in ages from 20-30. Head trauma or surgical procedures followed due to skull fracture etc can also be a reason for the occurrence of the abscess.
