Smart Power Generation on Highways Using Smart Leaves and Piezoelectric Technology
    (2018-10-17T13:16:45Z) Kiran, M R; Ageesh, A; Harshitha, H
Harvesting energy from the environment responsibly is important. Natural trees and plants are doing` this efficiently from millions of years. Our invention is the mimicking of this ingenious concept also referred to as bio mimicry or bio mimetic. The Smart leaves harvest and capture environmental energies like solar radiation, wind and heat and turn this into electricity. The Smart leaves are exploited on both sides, which will incorporate thermo and photovoltaic material for the purpose of converting solar radiation. In addition, we introduce piezoelectric connective elements in the branches that serves for harvesting wind energy into electricity. Kinetic energy is harnessed through movement. The wind produces motion in stems and branches. This motion is collected via piezo electric cells. These cells have semi-conducting devices incorporated in it that convert typical wind energy into electricity. A revolutionary street lighting system with improved management and efficiency can be accomplished. Wireless communication uses Zig Bee wireless devices for more efficient management of the street light system. It uses various sensors to control and guarantee the optimal system parameters. The information is transferred point-by-point using Zig Bee transmitters and receivers. Thereafter it is sent to a control terminal used to check the state of the street lamps and to take appropriate measures in case of failure. The system allows substantial energy savings with increased performance and maintenance. The main purpose of this project is to harvest solar, wind and thermal energy. Energy consumption is reduced by using this system. Photo voltaic cell, thermo voltaic cell, piezo electric cell, IR sensors and microcontroller are the main components of the project.
