Fingerprint recognition or fingerprint authentication refers to an automatic method of verifying the match between two human fingerprints. Fingerprints are one of many biometric forms used to identify individuals and confirm their identity. Fingerprints have been used for more than a century due to their uniqueness and consistency over time, but recently they have become automated (or biometric) due to increased computing power. Fingerprint recognition is popular because of its inherent ease of purchase, the large number of sources available for collection (10 fingers), and the usage and collection methods determined by law enforcement officials and immigrants
