Item Effect of Silver Nanoparticle Treatments on Biochemical Parameters and on Germination of Groundnut(2020-10-13T11:23:59Z) Nivedhitha, S; Preethi, A; Sushma, C; Varshini, VPhotosynthesized silver nanoparticles exhibit antimicrobial properties against various pathogens and pests in agriculture. Thus, subjecting crops to nanoparticle treatment, increases the growth and yield manifold, aiding food production to tend to the humongous population. Despite various methods of synthesis of nanoparticles, the biological method proves to be more convenient owing to its biocompatibility and low toxicity. In this study, nanoparticles were phytosynthesized using sandalwood leaf extract. Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea) plants were subjected to various treatments of different concentrations of the nanoparticles. The effect of the nanoparticles on the phenotypic characters (such as growth, length of root and shoot), biochemical characters and induced defense mechanisms of the treatments were evaluated. The results showed that the treated plants exhibited improved characteristics in comparison to the control.
