    A Network-Coding Approach to Recover the Failed Cloud in a Cloud-of-Clouds

    Cloud computing has become very popular among this generation. There are various aspects which are needed to be considered for the cloud storage such as fault tolerance, security etc. For providing the fault tolerance many methods have been proposed. One of the recent methods is to stripe the data across the different clouds; however it is important to overcome from the problem of permanent failure. When the cloud loses all its data due to permanent failure data redundancy should be maintained. In order to provide data redundancy cloud must activate the repair operation by using other surviving clouds. A proxy based storage system is provided for the permanent multiple cloud failure which activates the repair operation. The networking coding concept is built using Functional Minimum Storage Regenerating (FMSR). The advantage of the FMSR codes is that during repair no need to encode the data blocks of a file in the storage nodes during recovery process. FMSR reduces the repair traffic and hence the cost incurred in the repair.
