Air pollution is an important problem faced by our society. Air pollution may be described as contamination of the atmosphere by gaseous, liquid, or solid wastes or by-products that can endanger human health and welfare of plants and animals, attack materials, reduce visibility or produce undesirable odors. Fuel combustion is the largest contributor to air pollutant emissions, caused by man, with stationary and mobile sources equally responsible. The automobiles play an important role in the transport system. With an increase in population and living standard, the transport vehicles are increasing day by day which includes a steep increase in the number of two wheelers during the last two decades. All these are increasing exhaust pollution. The main pollutants contributed by I.C. engines are CO, NOX unburned hydro-carbons (HC) and other particulate emissions. These pollutants have adverse impacts on the environment like acid rain, eutrophication, haze, ozone depletion and global warming. Health effects can include visual impairment, reduced manual dexterity among many others. There are many ways to reduce exhaust emissions in the IC engines. One among the many methods is too cool the intake charge and the combustion chamber by injecting water. In internal combustion engines, water injection, also known as anti-detonant injection, involves
