Development of Smart Solar Irrigation System
    (2016-07-21T05:59:56Z) Aravind, H C; Kowshik, V; Murali, G; Vikas, A
Agriculture sector being the backbone of any country’s economy, especially for a country like India. India ranks 2nd worldwide in farm output. Since the population of developing countries keep on increasing, which demands more output of agricultural products. To necessitate this demand, water supply must be adequate and wastage of water must be avoided. Hence implementing a proper method of irrigation is mandatory. India also depends on grid power for irrigation hence it is necessary for development of smart solar irrigation system. Solar energy is the most abundant source of energy and it is the solution for the today’s energy crisis, hence this system consists of a solar powered submersible water pump which is integrated with a GSM module to eliminate the manual approach of operating pump and a moisture sensor for the usage of water more efficiently. The efficiency of the solar panel is increased by adapting the auto-tracking mechanism. A microcontroller is used to monitor the whole process of the system. This system conserves electricity by reducing the usage of grid power and conserves water. This is the proposed solution for the energy crisis for farmers.
