    Radar Tester
(2016-07-12T10:17:07Z) C.Vijay, Andrew; Vishal, Bhavikatti; Chethan, Kumar DL
The DRDO Airborne Early Warning and Control System (AEWACS) is a project of India's Defense Research and Development Organization to develop an airborne early warning and control system for the Indian Air Force. In the current project, RADAR Tester was designed, based on LabVIEW. This project contains SSR and CBDL for Real Time Operation (RTO’s). The RADAR tester was tested in real time using RFSG for generation of RF signal and RFSA for Detection of RF signal; both RFSG and RFSA are combined in Vector Signal Transceiver (VST). RADAR Tester is an essential requirement in the Radar industry for Electronic Counter Measure (ECM) and performance evaluation of radars without the need of expensive trips and interference from commercial wireless devices. The current design is capable of simulating multiple operations like SSR transponder and interrogation reply simulator, CBDL Uplink, downlink Simulator. The Line-of-Sight(LOS) and Satellite Links are considered essential in view of the nature of the terrain below the surveillance zone and the locations of the Ground Exploitation Stations in the operational area. It is noteworthy that of the five countries to possess the EMB-145 based AEW&C systems, only India has opted to have both the LOS and Satellite based Data Links for very specific reasons.
