In mountainous and hilly regions where step farming is done, it’s difficult to clean the slope surfaces or remove unwanted plants grown on it. It’s very important for the farmers to clean the slope surfaces before doing farming or planting anything on the plane surfaces. This is because of the reason that the plants grown on the slope surfaces contain different types of insects and those insects damages the newly planted plants on the plane surface. Also clean surface makes it easier to do faming. Currently, farmers in mountainous and hilly regions are cleaning or removing the plants from the slope surfaces manually by using traditional tools such as hoe. But it’s very difficult for farmers to do manually by using such tools over a wide area. Step farming slope cleaner consists of rotating blade which are fixed at the front end. This blade is used to cut the plants from the slope surfaces. This machine not only cut the plants grown on the slope surfaces but also makes the surface clean by ploughing the remaining plants which are partially cut or not cut from the deep near the surfaces. This machine consists of a two sets of rotating discs connected to separate shaft. Both sets of discs are inclined at some angle to shaft i.e. one set at right and another set at left. When these sets of blades rotate it makes the soil loose. So this machine will help the farmers who are doing step farming in the mountainous and hilly region to greater extent.Item Design and Development of Smart Dustbin Using IIOT(2019-07-05T07:24:47Z) A.I. Jayasimha, Reddy; Ayaz; Guruprasad, P N; Maheshreddy, PSolid waste generated is an ever-growing problem at local regions or at global levels. There is proper disposal of solid wastes pollute all the components of the green environment (i.e., air, land and water) at regional and global levels. Since there is rapid increase in producing or consumptions, quantity of wastes generated by the urban society has increased. The problem is more faced in the developing countries than in developed countries, as the economic growth as well as urbanization is more rapid. The continuous flow of garbage in all places where public people move around creates the unhygienic situations. It may invoke several injurious diseases among the nearby people. To avoid such a situation and to improve the cleaning, ‘Design and development of smart dust bin using IIOT’ is proposed. In the proposed system, the completeness of waste in the dustbins is checked with the help of Sensors used in the system, and information is sent to the required control room through GSM/GPRS system. Arduino is used to communicate the sensor system with GSM system. It consists of compressing unit to compress maximum amount waste. This entire project will runs based on solar system.Item Fabrication of Piezoelectric Shoe with Path Alert System(2019-07-05T07:37:24Z) Manjunath, V; Bharath N, Raju; Deepak, S; Aditya, NPiezoelectric materials was first discovered by Jacques and Pierre Curie in the 19th century. The literal meaning of piezoelectric is “pressure electricity”, and this meaning aptly describes these materials, as a deformation caused by pressure on the substance will create an electric current within the material. The mechanical pressure is therefore converted voltage. Piezoelectricity is the electric charge that accumulates in certain solid materials in the response to applied mechanical stress. The nature of the piezoelectric effect is closely related to the occurrence of electric dipole moments in solids. The latter may either be induced for ions on crystal lattice sites with asymmetric charge surrounding or may directly be carried by molecular groups. The dipole density or polarization may easily be calculated for crystals by summing up the dipole moments per volume of crystallographic unit cell. As every dipole is a vector, the dipole density P is a vector field. Dipoles near each other tend to be aligned using the process of poling, a process by which a strong electric field is applied across the material, usually at elevated temperatures. Not all piezoelectric materials can be poled.Item Aerodynamic Analysis of Modern Automotives(2019-07-05T07:48:33Z) ADARSH, K; ANAND, SASIDHARAN; ARUN, RADHAKRISHNAN; K J, THRISSULOn constant hunt for performance oriented cars, aerodynamics of cars is an important research topic that cannot be neglected as it plays a pivotal role in stability, handling and fuel efficiency. The scope of the project is to gain insight into the phenomenon that occurs during the interaction between the fluid that is air and the car as the latter propels itself forward. We have simulated real world conditions for original and modified models of the car in an attempt to reduce the overall drag coefficient of the car. The use of fluid flow simulations (using FLOEFD CFD tool) in such a CAD-embedded context is obviously very attractive as it can not only accelerate the design process, but it can make these processes more predictable and reliable, against a background of increasing design complexity and dependence on external development partners.Aerodynamics is something that changes not only how fast a vehicle goes, but also how efficient it is.Item Design and Fabrication of Automated Beach Cleaner(2019-07-05T07:56:32Z) Jitendra, Sah; Rahul, Mandal; Dhiru, Thakur; Md., Afsel CConsistently, a lot of litter enter the ocean. As plastics are especially tough, the mass of plastic waste on the planet's seas is relentlessly expanding – frequently with deadly ramifications for endless ocean animals. microscopic breakdown items from plastics, which researchers have as of late concentrated in detail, may likewise represent a danger. In spite of the fact that the issue has existed for quite a while, there is still no viable technique set up to change the tide on marine litter.Cleanliness is vital when it comes to public places because huge number of people use beaches and parks every day and makes the public places dirty. We introducing a new technique for collecting the litter waste such as plastic bottles ,covers, carry bags etc...The Automatic Beach cleaner can be a big relief for this task of cleaning garbage from the places like beach. The coastal area beaches are main attraction for tourism, so in attracting tourist the beach must be kept clean. For the purpose of cleaning the beach, some cleaning machine must be used so we have manufactured a cleaning machine which is helpful in cleaning the beaches.Item EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION ON EROSION RESISTANCE AND COMPUTATIONAL STUDIES ON THERMAL BARRIER COMPOSITE COATINGS OF TiC + Cr2O3 FOR ENGINE PISTON APPLICATION(2019-07-05T08:04:45Z) M J Nixon; Nilesh Kumar Jha; Pranav P; R AddhitiAluminium 6061 is an age hardened alloy that mainly contains Magnesium and Silicon. It has good machinability and is extruded for most applications. It is a high strength alloy with excellent corrosion resistance however it has poor weldability and fatigue strength. It is not suited for complex cross-sections due to this very reason. Aluminium 6061 is hot forged and preferably used in a closed-die process. It is used majorly for aircraft structures, wings as well as in yachts, bicycle frames and food packaging. According to the International Alloy Designation System, the first digit specifies the alloying elements. The second digit tells us the number of modifications done to the original alloy. The last two the digits specify the serial number of the alloy in the table of alloys retained by the association. The only exception to this rule is in the 1xxx series wherein the last two digits mention the percentage of Aluminium in the alloy. For Aluminium 6061, 6 signifies the major alloying elements are magnesium and silicon and 0 means there has been no modification to the original alloy. 61 is the serial number assigned to the alloy by the association.Item FDM PROCESS PARAMETER OPTIMIZATION USING TAGUCHI TECHNIQUE FOR PROPERTY ENHANCEMENT OF PRINTED PARTS(2019-07-05T08:07:25Z) Shashank S; Syed Mohammed Ali; Vijay N; Venkat Suresh SFused deposition modelling is a type of additive manufacturing technique that is currently being used majorly for prototyping of various components in engineering applications. The process provides a quick and inexpensive solution to analyze and test new designs. Some of the major limitations of this manufacturing technique are to achieve and maintain the required dimensional accuracy of the printed 3D models and their low strength as compared to models manufactured using injection molding. These limitations are the main reason due to which the FDM technique is limited to prototyping and not for practical applications. The main objective of this project is to optimize the FDM process parameters for enhanced dimensional accuracy, tensile strength and surface finish of the manufactured component. In order to understand and study the influence of various printing parameters, Taguchi method has been adopted which is one of the most commonly used methods for the Design of Experiments (DOE). This tool serves as an effective technique for planning experiments and analysing the data. In this project, the main factors that have been considered are the Raster angle or printing orientation, Layer thickness and Printing temperature with which the component is manufactured. The influence of each of these parameters on the dimensional accuracy, tensile strength and surface roughness is determined using Analysis of Variance in MINITAB-18 software. Probability plots of Signal-to-Noise Ratio for each of these responses were plotted to indicate the effect of printing parameters on the responses. A set of various combinations of the influencing factors was analyzed and the optimum values were chosen. The FDM equipment was then fed the various printing parameters to obtain models with the desired characteristics.Item Computational Aerodynamics Analysis of a Rear Spoilers on a Car in 2-D(2019-07-05T08:13:19Z) B NUTAN, KUMAR; BATHULA, SREEKAR; DILEEP, G B; SANGAMESH, SKPerformance, and safety of a car depends on multidisciplinary elements/factors such as car engine, tyres, aerodynamics, and ergonomics of design and most proficiently the driver . With the recent years, inflation in the fuel prices & the demand to have reduced green house emissions has played a significant role in redefining the car aerodynamics . Aerodynamic drag created by the car results in the maximum fuel consumption on highway,almost50% . These aerodynamic properties are used to study the drag&stability of cars’performance . Generally rear spoilers are used to slower down the air flow and accumulate air which helps increasing the pressure around the trunk and removing any chance of flow pressure. There search focuses on 2D model of BMW 3series sedan car with & without spoilers and the iterations of the rear spoilers are designed in Autodesk inventor software . The use of CFD software is to calculate the estimated drag and lift values acting on the car as well as the drag force and the coefficient of lift to improve the drag & stability. The results showed that the rear spoilers help in reducing drag by creating high pressure at the rear of the car.Item No Go Helmet Module(2019-07-05T10:14:49Z) B S, Nagaraj; Bharath, HR; Henry, Laara P; M Srinivas, KiranAs per a recent report on the road accidents that takes place in India, 80.5 percent are that of two wheelers motorcycles. The section 129 of the motor vehicles act, 1988 makes compulsory for a person driving two wheelers to wear a helmet. Technology which has conquered almost everything in this age has not made any impact when it comes to helmets. Thus, the idea of fusing technology and a basic helmet and named it as ‘No Go Helmet’. Our helmet has the ability to prevent the rider from commuting without wearing a helmet. It uses NRF24L01 and Arduino Nano as the main source of communication thus making the module very compact. The NRF24L01 is both a transmitter and a receiver making the number of components used being low. Both NRF24L01 and Arduino Nano are needed in 2 number one set goes in the bike connected to the battery and the set is fixed to the helmet with an additional battery attached to it. The helmet module acts as a transmitter which sends the signal to the receiver module in the bike whether the rider has worn the helmet, if its so then the bike turns on.Item DESIGNING OFFICE ROBOTICS & WATER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM(2019-07-05T10:29:51Z) Nabin Chandra Gope; Nasruddin Khan; Soham Pandey; Suhas VToday, the manufacturing industries have advanced many folds since the revolution. There exists a need to make profits at a diminutive usage of resources and to make their produces much precise and close to the required tolerances, a revolution to automate and implement Industry4.0 is a pivotal agenda for an industry in the 21st century. We were deployed to contribute to this motive in our major project by sketching the water distribution around the plant using AutoCAD and provide a standardised colour code for the respective pipeline and fathom various factors hampering the flow rate and quantity of the water distributed. Using MS Excel, we created a dynamic dashboard for daily stock requirements and maintenance complianceItem FABRICATION OF FUEL FLOW QUANTITY AND QUALITY MEASURING DEVICE(2019-07-05T10:34:38Z) Manish S Neelgar; Nithin R; Preetham G; Sendeep PThe emissions from automobiles result in increase of greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide. One of the major reasons for increased emissions is adulteration of automotive fuel. The adulterant that is mixed with petrol and diesel generally is kerosene. The reason why kerosene is chosen as an adulterant is its low cost. This adulteration results in reduced performance and lifetime of engine and other components of an automobile. Diversion of large amounts of kerosene for the purpose of adulteration reduces its availability to the poor people. So this has forced them to use wood as an alternative to kerosene for their household purposes. This indirectly leads to increase in global warming by increasing air pollution and cutting down of trees. So to prevent all these ill effects, an approach to automatic fuel adulteration detection and reporting system is proposed.Item Design and Fabrication of Solar Powered Floating Waste Collector(2019-07-05T11:19:04Z) Avishek, Sow; Ananda, P; Bishal Kumar, Sharma; Bishal, NathThis project emphasis on Design and Analysis of the floating waste collector Machine. The work focus at the adverse situation of our national rivers and other water bodies which are dumped with litters of sewage and loaded with pollutants, toxic materials, debris etc. The government of India has taken many steps and started various schemes and programs to clean the water bodies, by taking this into consideration this machine is designed to help clean the water bodies and keep the water suitable for usage. The machine is basically a boat kind of thing which will float to various corners of the water body, cleaning the light and floating wastes present in the water. It consists of a medium bath tub having large surface area in contact with water which helps the machine to float with ease and good height to withstand more load without drowning, two dc motors are placed inside the tub which are used to run two propellers fitted at two side of the tub. Over the tub a wooden plank is placed on top of which, a solar panel is mounted, the solar panel charges the battery absorbing heat from the sun and the battery powers the pump and the motors. The pump is placed along with a container supported by a clamped rod fixed to the funnel, fixed with nuts and bolts at one end of the boat. A square funnel made of aluminium sheet having a nylon net placed in middle is connected to the tub with the help of nuts and bolts having its head at the water level which is connected to the pump for suction of water and is drained into the water body again. The wastes collected in the funnel can be removed later manually. Thus by using alternate source of energy and recycling of water this machine helps in eliminating the floating wastes present in the water bodies to reduce water pollution and provide clean water and a balanced marine ecosystem.Item Study on Performance Characteristics of Single Cylinder 4 - Stroke Diesel Engine Composite Piston(2019-07-05T11:45:14Z) Vineeth, M.R; M. P. Aldo, Jason; Lohit, GThe internal combustion engine is facing a severe confront to progress automobile energy effectiveness. In the internal combustion engine most of the heat generated during combustion process is absorbed by the piston by the direct heat loss. Thus, this in turn reduces the indicated power and in turns the performance of internal combustion engine. In this study, the performance of the diesel engine will be studied with and without composite material on the piston crown. The experimentation will be carried out on four stroke single cylinder diesel engine for different load. There was an enhancement in thermal efficiency with reduced specific fuel consumption. Nowadays the earth is running short of fossil fuels. Loss of efficiency in engines are to curbed away by new alternative technologies. Developments in the mechanical industries are done nowadays to increase efficiencies of internal combustion engines. The main barrier we undergo nowadays is the inflation of fossil fuels rates are rising day by day with increased pollution in the atmosphere. Reduction of piston temperatures helps in increasing the efficiency upto an extent. As the efficiency increases throughout combustion of fuel will take place in the present internal combustion engines. Many emission standards are being followed seriously by every governments. Use of catalytic converters are being mandatorily fitted in all four stroke engines to reduce emissions from vehicles.Item Development of Algorithm for Facial Recognition(2019-07-05T11:50:28Z) Anupam M, Hiremath; Joel, George; Vishnu, V MThe objective of this project is to implement the LBPH algorithm of the facial recognition technology for the security purpose of door locking/unlocking in home automation. To develop the LBPH algorithm we use OpenCV an open source software which is widely used for facial recognition. This is the major and the toughest part of the project as we feed our facial data, slice the images and train the algorithm for a large number of iterations in different lighting conditions as it must be in a perfect condition to recognize our faces. This is critical because if this algorithm does not recognize the users face then it fails main the purpose of this project. To demonstrate the usage of this program for security purpose in home automation we have made a miniature model of a room with a door. Behind this door we have attached a servo motor which is used to open the door. With an input signal from the computer after the face is recognized the door will be opened. With a certain elapsed time it will close the door. To achieve this we have use Arduino Uno micro-controller and Arduino IDE to code the microcontroller.Item fabrication Modelling and Analysis of Track Buggy(2019-07-08T07:32:39Z) Omar Iyaz; Seemant Mishra; Shawn Fernandes; Suryansh MishraAs we know a buggy is used for racing in terrain which isn’t very suitable for racing with cars. A buggy is a vehicle used for extremely difficult terrains to race on. Using that concept we decided to build a buggy that is more focused on tarred road on concrete road. Buggy in general will cost a lot of money to build or even buy, we managed to build a track buggy which is cheap and provides good mileage. We have completed this project by using processes like welding, grinding, cutting, drilling and many other mechanical processes. The model of the track buggy was made using Lumina Software. The model was done using the exact shape and the size of the track buggy was finalized. After this the fabrication for it was done according to the model created. The fabrication was done using auto chassis, Tata ace axle and many other parts from different automobiles. The main aim was to compare this with the go-karts present in the industry and replace it with Track Buggies, this being more stronger, powerful, manual transmission and safer on the tracks perspective. The analysis of the Chassis and the axle was done to contradict the above statement. Track buggy being rigid due to the heavy axle and the rear engine gives more advantage for being used on a track as the weight is evenly distributed. The centre on gravity being right under the seat gives it a better control of the vehicle on sharp turns, whereas go-karts in the seat is sometimes placed towards the right hand side or the left hand side of the chassis and the engine being place either on the left or right hand side of the seat. The track buggy being ride height being low gives it more advantage to have more downforce. Track Buggy according to the analysis done has a greater advantage than the go-karts as well as certain disadvantages.Item FABRICATION AND STUDY OF EFFECT OF COCONUT SHELL ASH SECONDARY REINFORCEMENT ON ALUMINIUM SILICON CARBIDE COMPOSITE(2019-07-08T07:37:06Z) Pardeepan A; Kavya B K; Sunil B Yatnal; Suvarna DMetal Matrix Composites (MMCs) have induced a keen interest in recent times for probable applications in aerospace and automotive industries due to their higher strength to weight ratio and high temperature resistance. In this respect Aluminium matrix composites are widely used in various advance industries like aerospace, defense, transportation, marine, automobile and sports, due to their better corrosion resistance, good mechanical property and high strength to weight ratio. Our aim is to fabricate a metal matrix composite material that consists of an agro waste like coconut shell ash (CSA) as secondary reinforcement with Al-6061 and silicon carbide using stir casting technique. A comparison of the test result is done to evaluate the enhancement produced by the secondary reinforcement.Item DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF HEIGHT SENSING BOTTLE FILLING MACHINE(2019-07-08T07:44:34Z) Mukesh Kumar; Raghav Bora; Rahul D; Pooja N.SThis project discusses about the design and fabrication of automated multiple water filling machine electronic system. Generally, the function of the machine is to fill the water automatically into bottles through a moving bottle plate. The field of automation has a notable impact in a wide range of industries beyond manufacturing. Automation plays an increasingly important role in the world economy. Filling is a task carried out by a machine that packages liquid products such as cold drinks or water. In past, humans were the main method for controlling a system. More recently, electricity has been used for control and electrical control is based on microcontrollers for various purposes like medicines, pharmaceutical plants, chemical plants etc. There microcontrollers control the complete working of the system. It is common to use microcontrollers to make simple logical control decision. The automation in bottle filling industry comes with increased electrical components. Essential requirements of each component in the system is important to be studied in ordered to understand how each part works in coordination with other parts in the system. This study mainly includes design, fabrication and control system for automated bottle filling system. A conveyor system with sensors and electromagnetic valve is fabricated for this purpose. The entire sequence of operation is controlled by Arduino microcontroller. In small industries bottle filling operation is done manually. The manual filling process has many shortcomings like spilling of water while filling it in bottle, equal quantity of water may not be filled, delay due to natural activities of human etc. This problem faced by small industries compels to design this system. This proposed system is meant for small industries. It aims to eliminate problem faced by small scale bottle filling system. With this system which operates automatically, every process can be smooth and the process of refilling can reduce worker cost and operation cost.Item Design and Fabrication of Solar Heat Engine Water Pump for Solar Water Heater(2019-07-08T08:03:13Z) Varun R; Rijan Kafle; Rupak Karki; Subhasis PandaNowadays, hot water is used for domestic, commercial and industrial purposes. Various resources i.e. coal, diesel, gas etc. are used to heat water and for steam production. Solar energy is the chief alternative to replace the conventional energy sources. The sun emits a tremendous amount of radiation and heat every second upon reaching the earth it can be harnessed to convert into clean and renewable energy, one such device that harnesses ambient solar energy is the solar water heater system. The solar water heater system is not only designed to meet hot water demands but also energy demands in some cases. The size of the systems depends on availability of solar radiation, temperature requirement of customer, geographical condition and arrangement of the solar system, etc. Therefore, it is necessary to design the solar water heating system as per above parameter.
