Item Design and Development of Fresnel Lens Powered Solar Cooker Using Olive Oil Fumes(2018-06-22T11:19:30Z) Alwyn James, Paul; Abhishek, Ajith; Jansen H, Mathew; Ashish, MathurNowadays as there is a large reduction of energy source like wood, coal, natural gases, etc.. and day by day cost is going hike. Solar cookers use sunlight as an energy source to cook food. No other energy source is needed for a solar cooker to operate. If the traditional energy source is firewood, the time or money needed to collect the wood is saved. Also, cooking on wood creates indoor air pollution (smoke) which can cause disease. Cooking takes place in a solar box cooker based on the principle, the black absorbing material coated inside the walls of the cooking chamber absorbs direct thermal radiation from the sun converting it to heat energy. Using Fresnel lens type, parabolic, box, or panel cookers means no gas or electricity costs. They are easy to maintain and just as easy to build. With a little planning and some basic mathematical calculations, anyone can own their own solar cooker. Besides the economic savings, solar cooking helps in the fight against global warming and deforestation. By using the sun's rays to cook meals, firewood is saved and in many remote areas time is used more usefully than for gathering the necessary firewood needed for wood burning stoves. In the remote areas of the world a solar cooker can be used to distill drinking water and feed villages. Many people in the world must survive on polluted surface water that is difficult for them to decontaminate. Solar cookers offer an easy solution to this problem. Often times, it is necessary to collect wood to build large fires in order to purify water. Solar cookers distill water cheaply by using the sun's rays to heat a pot of water. Solar cookers are also easily transported to remote locations. In many parts of the world they can be easily built using local materials. The expected outcome of this project is to obtain maximum performance rate by incorporating Fresnel lens , olive oil fumes and powered by sun’s radiation .
