Item Solar Powered Device For WSN(2016-08-08T08:33:29Z) Anuj Kumar, Sahu; Ramesh, D; Lokesh, PWireless sensor nodes are usually deployed in inaccessible or remote places to provide solution to a wide range of application. They are spatially distributed and as a result are usually powered from batteries. Due to the limitation in providing power with batteries, which must be manually replaced when they are depleted, and location constraints in wireless sensor network causes a major setback on performance and lifetime of WSNs. The major challenge for proliferation of WSN is energy. This difficulty in battery replacement and cost led to a growing interest in energy harvesting. The current practice in energy harvesting for sensor networks is based on applications. In this project, wireless sensor nodes are used in the agriculture application to monitor soil moisture. Indian farmers are facing issues when it comes to irrigation and several agricultural practices. Sometime excess of water and some deficiency of water makes crop difficult to grow. In such situation, WSN along with solar energy can give a remarkable solution. This proves an efficient and economy way of irrigation and this will enhance the performance of agriculture. The real time application in environmental monitoring is presented with emphasis on energy conservation.
