Our technique uses a series of n-gram filters to support the functionality. The scheme exhibits a trade-off between storage and false positive rate, and is adaptable to defend against inclusion-relation attacks. A design approach based on an application’s target false positive rate is also described.

A tool for ranking all the source files with respect to how likely they are to contain the cause of the bug would enable developers to narrow down their search and improve productivity. This paper introduces an adaptive ranking approach that leverages project knowledge through functional decomposition of source code, API descriptions of library components, the bug-fixing history, the code change history, and the file dependency graph. Given a bug report, the ranking score of each source file is computed as a weighted combination of an array of features, where the weights are trained automatically on previously solved bug reports using a learning-to-rank technique. We evaluate the ranking system on six large scale open source Java projects, using the before-fix version of the project for every bug report. The experimental results show that the learning-to-rank approach outperforms three recent state-of-the-art methods. In particular, our method makes correct recommendations within the top 10 ranked source files for over 70 percent of the bug reports in the Eclipse Platform and Tomcat projects.

Business Process as a Service (BPaaS) is an emerging type of cloud service that offers configurable and executable business processes to clients over the Internet. As BPaaS is still in early years of research, many open issues remain. Managing the configuration of BPaaS builds on areas such as software product lines and configurable business processes. The problem has concerns to consider from several perspectives, such as the different types of variable features, constraints between configuration options, and satisfying the requirements provided by the client. In our approach, we use temporal logic templates to elicit transactional requirements from clients that the configured service must adhere to. For formalizing constraints over configuration, feature models are used. To manage all these concerns during BPaaS configuration, we develop a structured process that applies formal methods while directing clients through specifying transactional requirements and selecting configurable features. The Binary Decision Diagram (BDD) analysis is then used to verify that the selected configurable features do not violate any constraints. Finally, model checking is applied to verify the configured service against the transactional requirement set. We demonstrate the feasibility of our approach with several validation scenarios a and performance evaluations.

We propose a distributed Social-based mobile Q&A System (SOS) with low overhead and system cost as well as quick response to question askers. SOS enables mobile users to forward questions to potential answerers in their friend lists in a decentralized manner for a number of hops before resorting to the server. It leverages lightweight knowledge engineering techniques to accurately identify friends who are able to and willing to answer questions, thus reducing the search and computation costs of mobile nodes. The trace-driven simulation results show that SOS can achieve a high query precision and recall rate, a short response latency and low overhead. We have also deployed a pilot version of SOS for use in a small group in Clemson University. The feedback from the users shows that SOS can provide high-quality answers.
