    Electronics and Communication Engineering
    (2016-08-23T11:33:14Z) Ravi Kumar, M; Sumanth, R Dixit; Tejaswini, S
One of the important problems that our society faces is that people with disabilities are finding it hard to cope up with the fast growing technology. The access to communication technologies has become essential for the handicapped people. Generally deaf and dumb people use sign language for communication but they find difficulty in communicating with others who don’t understand sign language. Sign language is an expressive and natural way for communication between normal and dumb people (information majorly conveyed through the hand gesture). Speech –impaired people have difficulty in communicating with normal people because the hand gestures used by them to communicate their information is not easily understandable ;only trained people can understand these. Most expressions and emotions remain un-conveyed, sometimes even misinterpreted. So hand gestures (limited gestures) are not an effective method of communication for the speech impaired people. To take care of this issue, an electronic help desk kit can be used to enhance the passage of communication .Here, the electronic device consists of specialized keypad in which each key corresponds to pre assigned recorded audio the message by the speech impaired person.

    KROTO Finder
    (2016-08-23T11:29:13Z) Chanikya, C; Vineeth Reddy, M; Chakradhar Reddy, O
This project is mainly implemented for industrial applications. Mainly for detecting the damages inside the oil pipe that cannot be detected by human beings. Kroto is the greek word meaning to crack. Inside the pipe, there is very heavy temperature, pressure and toxic gases. So we are implementing a robot that have a camera, temperature sensor, pressure sensor etc which is used to detect the crack and conditions inside the pipe. This data from all the high precision sensors will be transmitted using ZIGBEE protocol from the robot to the control station. The robot incorporates a wireless camera and the data from the cam is transmitted to the frontend Visual studio. The ZigBee Alliance is not pushing a technology; rather it is providing a standardized base set of solutions for sensor and control systems...Wireless connectivity of a vast number of industrial and home applications has modest transmission data requirements, but demands reliable and secure communication using simple low-cost and low-power radio systems. In the quest for high-bandwidth, multimedia-capable wireless networks, the need for cost and power-effective radio solutions for this vast number of fairly simple applications was only recently addressed by a standardized technology (i)

    Solar Based DC Inverter
(2016-08-23T11:08:11Z) Kumar, Himanshu; Sushma, V Naidu; Sicheta, Maitra
In recent years, the interest in solar energy has risen due to surging oil prices and environmental concern. In many remote or underdeveloped areas, direct access to an electric grid is impossible and a photovoltaic inverter system would make life much simpler and more convenient. With this in mind, our aim is to design, build, and test a solar panel inverter. This inverter system could be used as backup power during outages, battery charging, or for typical household applications. The overall goal is to design this system while minimizing component costs. Although systems with similar features already exist, many are prohibitively expensive for those people who stand to benefit the most. In addition, inverters in the lower price range typically lack the features.

(2016-08-23T11:04:10Z) AVinash, Soni; K Divya, Lal; Abhishek, Solanki
Nowadays, due to the easy availability of almost all information on the internet these days, students are less motivated to attend the lecture. The security system is basically an embedded one. Embedded stands for hardware controlled by software. Here, the software using a Microcontroller controls all the hardware components. The microcontroller plays an important role in the system. Basically attendance is manually done and record is maintained in files. Our main idea of approach is to reduce manual work and to automate the attendance system The main objective of the system is to uniquely identify and to make security for a person. This requires a unique product, which has the capability of distinguishing different person. This is possible by the new emerging technology RFID (Radio Frequency Identification). The main parts of an RFID system are RFID tag (with unique ID number) and RFID reader (for reading the RFID tag). In this system, RFID tag and RFID reader used are operating at 125 KHz. The microcontroller internal memory is used for storing the details. This report provides a clear picture of hardware and software used in the system. It also provides an overall view with detailed discussion of the operation of the system.

Illumination Compensation Using OLHE and it's Application to Face Recognition
    (2016-08-23T11:00:15Z) Ramya, R; R Shwetha, Prasad; Abiramy, D
Illumination compensation and normalization play a crucial role in face recognition. The existing algorithms either compensated low-frequency illumination, or captured high frequency edges. However, the orientations of edges were not well exploited. In this paper, we propose the orientated local histogram equalization (OLHE) in brief, which compensates illumination while encoding rich information on the edge orientations. We claim that edge orientation is useful for face recognition.

Design and Implementation of Low Power PLL in 0.18 CMOS Technology Using Custom Design Approach
(2016-08-23T10:40:15Z) Rakesh, Sukumaran; Vishal, Ramdurg; Madhu Kumar, H R
Contemporary digital systems use clocks for sequencing their operations and for synchronizing between different functional units. Phase locked-loops (PLLs) are widely used in order to generate well-timed on-chip clocks to be used in high-performance digital systems. A PLL is a closed loop system that locks the phase of its output signal to an input reference signal. PLLs are widely used in radio, computer and telecommunications systems where it is necessary to stabilize a generated signal or to detect incoming signals. PLL is a simple negative feedback architecture that allows economic multiplication of crystal frequencies by large variable numbers. By studying the loop components and their reaction to various noise sources, it can be shown that PLL is uniquely suited for generation of stable, low noise tunable RF signals for radio, timing and wireless applications.

    Propller Display
    (2016-08-23T10:29:28Z) Chandru N, Gowda; Pallavi H, A; Shaik, Rajaf
Conventional methods of displaying images to public are using LCD display and dot-matrix LED board. Propeller LED display is a device that project an image or time as if the images are floating in the air. The floating image is received because of human eye limitation. Actually the floating images emerge by synchronizing LED'S blink to form an image at particular time and rate. The programming of PIC is using Assembly Language. This project consist two main circuit; motor controller circuit and LED circuit. 9VDC will be used to supply the power for motor controller circuit. Then the motor controller circuit will provides power to LED circuit and DC motor. When DC motor is rotating, the floating image will appear. The synchronization of DC motor speed and LED blink cause the image visible to human eyes. So the desired image such as clock, date or symbol can be programmed and displayed.

Comparative Study of Loss-Less & Lossy Images Compression
    (2016-08-23T10:21:08Z) Sasngeetha, M; Garlapati Prudvi Charan, M; Sagar Simha, K T
With the wide use of computers and consequently need for large scale storage and transmission of data, efficient ways of storing data have become necessary. With the growth of technology and entrance into the Digital Age, the world has found itself amid a vast amount of information. Dealing with such enormous information can often present difficulties. The purpose of data compression is to make a file smaller by minimizing the amount of data present. When a file is compressed, it can be reduced to as little as 25% of its original. It is done to reduce the amount of space it takes to save the data wherever the data is stored and also makes it better to send through the internet if the files are large. Many files can be combined into one compressed document making it easier. Image compression is minimizing the size in bytes of a graphics file without degrading the quality of the image to an unacceptable level. The reduction in file size allows more images to be stored in a given amount of disk or memory space. It also reduces the time required for images to be sent over the Internet or downloaded from Web pages. JPEG is an important techniques used for image compression. JPEG image compression standard uses Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT). It is a fast transform. It is a widely used and robust method for image compression. It has excellent compaction for highly correlated data. DCT has fixed basis images. It gives good compromise between information packing ability and computational complexity. Compressing an image is significantly different than compressing raw binary data. Of course, general purpose compression programs can be used to compress images, but the result is less than optimal. DCT has been widely used in signal processing of the image. The one-dimensional DCT is useful in processing one-dimensional signals such as speech waveforms. For analysis of two- dimensional (2D) signals such as images, we need a 2D version of the DCT data, especially in coding for compression, for its near-optimal performance. With the use of digital cameras, requirements for storage, manipulation, and transfer of digital images has grown explosively. These image files can be very large and can occupy a lot of memory. A gray scale image that is 256 x 256 pixels has 65, 536 elements to store, and a typical 640 x 480 color image has nearly a million. Downloading of these files from internet can be very time consuming task.

Optical Character Recogniting of Printed Kannada Characters in MATLAB Using Template Matching APproach
    (2016-08-23T09:32:57Z) Manohar, R; Maghana, R; Mahima, T
Advancements in technology led to the expansion of IT industry which in turn led to inflow of population to major cities from places around the country and the world. People who moved in to new cities find it difficult to read the sign boards, billboards and bus directions etc. which is written in the local language. This paper discusses a method which provides a method of reading KANNADA boards in English alphabet as it is, without any translation by using OCR by Template matching approach in MATLAB. MATLAB R2015a is the software used. Nudi 4.0 is the Kannada keyboard used to obtain the characters. Cross-correlation is the method used in matching the characters with the templates. Kannada is the official language of Karnataka and a language widely spoken and seen in Bengaluru, IT hub of India. This method helps users from other parts of the country, world to read the direction plates, destination boards on themselves and also helps them to learn Kannada. The major motivation for this project were our friends and classmates from other states. We have seen them travelling from one place to another and struggling to know the place where they are currently, identifying the correct bus to be boarded and recognizing the landmarks which are again written in Kannada. Also, neighbours, well wihes and teachers faced the same problems. Our project aims at reducing the troubles and make travelling in and around Karnataka comfortably by providing them with a tool that allows them to read Kannada boards on their own.

    Multipurpose Robotic Agricultural Vehicle
(2016-08-08T10:17:48Z) Harshit, Shukla; Darshan, TC; Shaik, Abdul Moiz
Agriculture is the backbone of India. The robotics plays a major role in various fields such as industrial, medical, military applications etc., the robotics field are gradually increasing its productivity in agriculture field. Agriculture helps to meet the basic needs of human and their civilization by providing food, clothing, shelters, medicine and recreation. Hence, agriculture is the most important enterprise in the world. In the current generation most of the countries do not have sufficient skilled man power specifically in agricultural sector and it affects the growth of developing countries. So it‘s a time to automate the sector to overcome this problem. In India there are 70% people dependent on agriculture. So we need to study agriculture. Innovative idea of our project is to automate the process of sowing crops and to reduce the human effort and increase the yield. The plantation of seeds is automatically done by using DC motor. This robotic vehicle is an agricultural machine of a considerable power and great soil clearing capacity. This multipurpose system gives an advance method to sow, plow, water and cut the crops with minimum man power and labor making it an efficient vehicle. The machine will cultivate the farm by considering particular rows and specific column at fixed distance depending on crop. Moreover the vehicle can be controlled through Bluetooth medium using an Android smart phone. The whole process calculation, processing, monitoring are designed with motors & sensor interfaced with microcontroller. The main requirement of Automation is to reduce man power in our country; the buzzword in all industrial firms generally involves electrical, electronic component as well as mechanical part. Automation saves a lot of tedious manual work and speeds up the production processes [2]. Now a day we have lack of man power. Energy required for this machine is less as compared with tractors or any agricultural instrument. A manual farm consumes more time. So it is a time to automate the process of sowing. Another need is to increase high speed of operation.

(2016-08-08T09:49:24Z) Karthik, Mallikarjun; Shailesh, Tiwari; Sruthi, Narayanan
Electricity is one of the most important resources in this century. We should conserve the electricity. But many times we come outside the room/hall and forget to turn off the lights/fan, thus the electricity is wasted. To overcome this we are going to implement a project called “Smart Power Control System with Bidirectional visitor counter”. This project has 2 modules. First module is “Bidirectional Visitor counter” and the other module is “Smart Power Control System” which can also be called Automatic room light controller. Main concept behind this project is to measure and display the number of persons entering in any room like seminar hall, conference room. This person count will be incremented if somebody enters inside the room and at the same time the lights are turned on. And in reverse way, person count will be decremented if somebody leaves the room and the when number of persons inside the room is zero, power supply inside the room can be cut using a relay interface. This will help to save electricity. LCD display placed outside the room displays number of person inside the room.
