A STUDY ON PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT SERVICES WITH REFERENCE TO ASCENT CONSULTING PVT. LTD
    (2017-08-16T10:56:00Z) GIRISH
In finance a portfolio is an appropriate mix or collection of investments held by an institution or a private individual. In building up an investment portfolio a financial institution will typically conduct its on investment analysis, whilst a private individual may make use of the services of a financial advisor or a financial institution which offers portfolio management services. Holding a portfolio is a part of an investment risk- limiting strategy called diversification by owning several the portfolios could include stocks, bonds, options, warrants, gold certificates, real estate, future contracts, production facilities, or any other item that is expected to retain its value. A portfolio is a collection of securities. Since it is rarely desirable to invest the entire fund of an individual or an institution in a single security, it is essential that every security be viewed in a portfolio context. Thus it seems logical that the expected return of a portfolio should depend on the expected return of each of the security contained in the portfolio. It also seems logical that the amounts invested in each security should be important. Portfolio analysis considers the determination of future risk and return in holding various blends of individual securities. An investor can reduce portfolio risk by adding another security with greater individual risk than any other security in the portfolio. This seemingly curious result occurs because risk depends greatly on the covariance among returns of individual securities. Investors can reduce expected risk through proper diversification. Diversification is the key to effective risk management. Risk of a portfolio can be reduced by proper diversification without effecting expected return. Diversification is the process by which one combines securities of different risk/ return characteristics in such way that the overall risk factor of a portfolio is reduced. Diversification can reduce portfolio risk only if two security return co variability is less than perfect.

A STUDY ON EFFECTIVENESS OF WORKING CAPITAL MANAGEMENT WITH REFERENCE TO SKY ASSOCIATES
    (2017-08-16T10:08:52Z) AJITHRA, N
The Project has been undertaken at Sky Associates, Bangalore, for duration of sixteen weeks. Management of the working capital is an important aspect in all business organisations. The management of the current assets includes Inventory, Received, Debtors, Book debts, Short-term assets cash and bank balances. The management of fixed and current assets, however differs in three important ways. 1. In managing fixed assets time is a very important factor, consequently, discounting and compounding techniques play a significant role in capital budgeting and minor one in the management of current assets . 2. The large holding of current assets, especially cash, strengthens, the firm‘s liquidity position (reduces riskiness), but also reduces the overall profitability. Thus a risk returns trade-off is involved in holding current assets, 3. Level of fixed as well as current assets depends upon expected sales, but it is only current assets, which can be adjusted with sales fluctuations in the short run. Thus the firm has a greater degree of flexibility in managing current assets. Working Capital refers to the amount of capital which is readily available to an organization that is, working capital is the difference between resources in cash and readily convertible into cash (current assets) and organizational commitments for which cash will soon be required (current liabilities). Thus, working capital involves activities such as arranging the short-term finance, negotiating favorable credit terms, controlling the movement of cash, administrating accounts receivables and monitoring the investments also a great deal of time.

A STUDY OF RATIO ANALYSIS AT EXL SERVICES
    (2017-08-16T09:32:29Z) KASTURI, VENKATADRI
This report is an analysis of the financial operations and performance of the company for the year of 2016. This report will provide an assessment and analysis of the profitability, liquidity, performance and financial position of the Sports Station using figures from the financial statements for the year of 2016. In the analysis, financial ratios were used to gain a critical review of the specific areas of assessment of the company’s performance. The ratios were able to provide a clear view of the overall performance of the company. From the ratios we can say that the year of 2016 has not been profitable mainly because of high expenditures mainly rates and insurance. Gross Profit margin is very good which implies that direct costs are properly monitored. The company has a healthy liquidity position which means that it can rely on its current assets to finance the current liabilities and does not have to commit to long term debts. However, it can be noticed that the future does not look bright, firstly because of recurring losses and secondly because unhealthy financing structure giving that it relies a heavily on debts. It has been recommended that the company should look into ways of improving sales in period of low demand to improve profitability and also increase financing to expand and grow the business. The analysis is limited mainly due to the fact that it is based on one month transactions, and hence no comparative study has been made possible. Given the nature of the business, it would have been interesting to evaluate the business by comparing with past months results and also with the industry benchmark.
