The main objective of project is to sort wastes into three different categories, namely metal, dry and the wet waste. Waste segregation means division of waste into dry waste and wet waste. Dry waste includes paper, cardboard, glass tin cans etc. Wet waste on the other hand, refers to organic waste such as vegetable peels, left-over food etc. Separating waste is essential as the amount of waste being generated today causes immense problem. We have proposed the system for segregation of waste using 8051 microcontroller. Waste is pushed onto conveyer belt, the presence of waste is first identified by use of Infra-red sensor at start end of the conveyor belt, the waste moves further for detection with proximity sensor to detect it is metal. If it is detected metal, electromagnet rotates to in a direction to collect the metallic waste and is dropped into dustbin else the conveyer belt moves further, now the moisture sensor detects the wet waste and it is dropped into another dustbin. If the waste present is neither metallic waste nor wet waste conveyer is moved further and the waste is dropped into the dry bin. The rotational bins comes back to dry bin by default. The type of waste detected is displayed on the LCD display.en_US
