Abstract
Converting solar energy into electrical energy represent one the most suitable and challenging energetic technologies, in continuous development, being clean, silent,and reliable,with very low maintenance costs and minimal ecological impact .A photovoltaic panel is a device used to capture the sun’s radiation. These panels consist of an array of cells comprising of silicon(derived from sand ). The cells are connected together forming a complete photovoltaic (solar) panel. When the sunlight strikes the solar cells , the photovoltaic effect enables converting solar energy to electrical energy.
The efficiency of this process depends significantly on the orientation of the panel relative to the sun. Stationary mounted photovoltaic (PV) panels are only perpendicular to the sun, during the day. To maximize energy capture throughout the day , tracking systems are employed , enabling solar panels to follow the sun’s movement , There are four types of tracking methods:active , passive , chronological and manual systems.
