Abstract
Steering systems are vital to the performance and safety of any vehicle, particularly in go-karts where precise handling and low steering effort are essential for competitive and recreational use. This project focuses on the design, analysis, and optimization of a mechanical steering system tailored for a go-kart to ensure accurate maneuverability, responsiveness, and stability.
The study begins with an evaluation of steering geometry, including the Ackermann principle, steering ratio, and turning radius. A lightweight, compact steering mechanism is selected, considering packaging constraints and frame geometry. A 3D model is developed, followed by kinematic and dynamic analyses. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is conducted to assess the structural integrity of key components under load.
