| dc.description.abstract | Go-kart is recreational vehicles which are used for racing and entertainment purpose. Go kart is a small four wheeled vehicle with no suspension and low ground clearance. Go-karts come in all shapes and forms, which are light weight and propelled by small engines to reach high speeds. Go-kart has become more and more popular sport in present days. Go- karting is one of the safest, cheapest and best avenue into motorsports for racing enthusiast. The aim of this project is to design and perform dynamic analysis such as front impact, side impact, rear impact, modal analysis and crash test on go-kart chassis. The chassis should be able to withstand dynamic loading condition. In the present study, in order to arrive at a full functional go-kart there are various stages among which we are concentrating on the dynamic Analysis of the backbone of Go-kart that is the chassis. The performance of a Go-kart depends a lot on the chassis design. A good chassis needs to be able to flex and twist. The design of the chassis has its own sub steps like the theoretical calculation and the data acquired by reverse engineering from the industrial chassis and arrive at various designs. The next step after design is to determine which material to be used. The dynamic analysis is done for best chassis as obtained from static results. Dynamic analysis includes front impact, side impact, rear impact, modal and crash analysis. The best optimum chassis from analysis is further checked for the availability of the raw material and the cost of the build is determined. As the dynamic results are obtained and analyzed, fabrication is carried out. The dynamic analysis of go- kart chassis is carried using ANSYS 14 software. The maximum deformation and stress which act on the chassis in all the dynamic analysis is well under the maximum allowable stress of mild steel and has achieved desirable factor of safety as well. | en_US |
