Abstract
This study titled "A Comparative Analysis in Investment of Stock and Mutual Fund" investigates the productivity as well as risk related characters inventory funds managed by five asset management companies (AMCs) in India. 5-Years Returns, Alpha for those years and Beta were analyzed along with Sharpe Ratio and Standard Deviation (SD) of these Indian Balanced Funds to measure the relative performance against a benchmark. Being a detailed study, we believe this report will be beneficial for investors in the mutual fund market to have insights about their competition by understanding appropriate sources of stability and drivers where they can build new strategies.
The Indian Mutual Fund industry has come a long way since the first UTI was set up in 1963. The industry has seen many phases of development over the years right from public sector players to private sector entrants and onto consolidation/growth phase which it is currently in. This is important to keep in mind when looking at the environment now as well where these large cap funds operate. The competition among AMCs has led to innovation, and there is a vast range of options available for an investor.
