Abstract
Drying is a water removal process from foodstuffs, used for preservation and storage purposes.
There are alternatives, but drying is most effective method for food preservation because it increases the storage life. Due to higher prices and shortages of fuels and to reduce consumption used in the drying process, more importance is given to solar energy sources asit is freely available. In this project work, a Forced convection solar dryer is designed and
developed to study the performance of solar collector and dryer. Suction fan is used at exhaust
and runs on solar panel. It is used to draw air and ensure the forced convection of air inside the dryer. This is a cost effective and economical alternative to the conventional drying procedures
and also saving the running cost of traditional dryers
