Abstract
This paper presents a low cost inverter for solar systems based on embedded EZ-source concept. Compared to the traditional Z-source inverter (ZSI), embedded EZ-source inverter (EZSI) provides implicit source current or voltage filtering. EZSI can also produce the same gain as ZSI but with smoother and smaller current or voltage maintained across the input and within the impedance network. These added features are obtained without requiring additional passive filters and therefore reducing the system cost and avoiding its accompanied control and resonant complication. These advantages are significant for applications like photo voltaic and wind electric system. A new low cost solar cell powered EZSI system is simulated and the results are presented.
