Abstract
The main objective of this research is to investigate the possibility of utilizing waste steel slag in concrete production. In this project experimental investigation conducted on optimum steel slag replacement with coarse aggregate. After the formation of by-product steel slag, in large amount from steel industries. This steel slag is disposed to open land area, it makes land pollution and harmful to environment. It has good physical parameters and gives enough strength to concrete and due to this it is suitable to bear heavy load. In further study coarse aggregate is replaced by steel slag, and then concrete is prepared. The replacement ratio which have been studied were, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100% by weight. Water–cement ratio kept 0.42. Concrete made with steel slag as coarse aggregate replaced achieved better performance compared to normal concrete. Physical properties of conventional concrete and coarse aggregate replaced concrete are compared. On fresh concrete slump test was preformed to check workability of concrete and after then compressive strength and split tensile strength was checked. Thus steel slag is appropriate substitute of coarse aggregate in concrete mix for construction.
