Abstract
This introduction gives a brief explanation of the project. It explains the need of the project and its uniqueness. And the significance of using Associate’s time judiciously using the MAP tool.
Metric Assessment Productivity (MAP) is used to completely remove associate’s effort in maintaining the data in excel sheets, which has become time consuming as the amount of data is increased each day. This tool helps in handling the data in a single centralized location where one can access the information quite easily without any cumbersome.
We try to understand the difficulties caused during the process of updating the excel sheets manually, and make an attempt to optimize the associate’s work efficiently. The Upgrade Center process is carried out by various clients signing up for upgrade. During this process several activities are carried out like Requirements gathering, unit testing, System testing, end to end testing, where the associates indulge in these activities on daily basis. The associate performs the testing and sends out an update to the point of contact the testing results. And he also updates the result sheet (Microsoft Excel) the testing results such as Passed, Failed or N/A. And these results are consolidated to check if the testing has been carried out for all the solutions.
MAP tool is developed to minimize these tedious tasks by automating the results so that they are accumulated at one location for the associate to view and update the results. The main motive of this project is to develop a web based application that can be used in increasing associate’s work efficiency.
This web application is developed using Ruby on Rails platform. It uses MVC framework (Model-View-Controller). The tables in the database is referred as model. For ex., in a database the tables ‘employees’ are linked by the employee.rb file which is in the hierarchy app/models directory. Controller collaborates the interaction between the model, view and the end-user. It also helps in organizing and managing the activities and provides support to it.
