Abstract
We never know how high we are Till we are called to rise; And then, if we are true to plan, Our statures touch the skies. ~ Emily Dickinson ~ Indian industry is showing tremendous growth potential. Globalization and intense competition necessitates optimum talent utilization to stay ahead which demand industry bigwigs to place more emphasis on empowering women workforce. It is well known that Indian women employees are talented, diligent, and responsible; however, HR practitioners need to take into consideration the social, cultural and economic hurdles that prevent them from performing to their full potential. The challenge thrown to HR executives in the current scenario is creating customized work life balance policies for its women employees that help them to work and excel in spite of their myriad responsibilities. An empathetic and proactive HR Department would definitely play a major role in India’s progress story. This study intends to analyze the various obstacles a working women faces and the positive role of work life balance policies in contributing to women empowerment and highlights the significant role of internal and external facilitators.
