An accurate and efficient fault detection and classification is required for transmitting power from generating stations to various load centres reliably and efficiently. A completely new approach for fault detection for interconnected system using the time synchronized phasor measurements. This scheme mainly embraces, on comparing positive sequence voltage magnitudes for specified areas and positive sequence current phase angle difference for each interrelated line between two areas on the network. Wavelet transform is used for determining fault location and its classification in Transmission lines. It is indeed a very efficient technique or rather a method in order to determine the type of faults and its location for correction of faults in transmission line to ensure their normal functioning. This method provides results with high accuracy and efficient enough to be used in the practical world.en_US
