The investment habits of information technology (IT) professionals in Bengaluru, which is commonly known as India's Silicon Valley, are thoroughly examined in this study. With a booming IT sector and a financially literate, tech-savvy workforce, Bengaluru represents a significant demographic for financial product adoption, particularly mutual funds. The study identifies how this professional group perceives, approaches, and engages in mutual fund investments while highlighting the main elements affecting their financial decisions. Mutual funds, as collective investment vehicles, offer several advantages, for example, spreading investments across various assets and having them managed by financial experts, liquidity, and ease of access. These traits make them a suitable option for IT professionals who often have disposable income, a higher appetite for risk, and an affinity for technology-driven financial tools. The study found that 88% of respondents were aware of mutual funds, and 59% had already invested in them, primarily favoring equity funds (75%) due to their long-term wealth creation potential.
