Stair navigation remains one of the biggest challenges for wheelchair users, especially in buildings where accessibility features such as ramps and elevators are not available. Many residential and public spaces still rely on traditional staircase designs, leaving wheelchair users dependent on others for movement between different floor levels. Conventional wheelchairs are designed for flat surfaces and cannot safely operate on stairs, which increases both physical risk and emotional stress. Although commercial stair climbing devices exist, they are often expensive, complex, and difficult to maintain, making them unsuitable for widespread use, particularly in cost-sensitive environments.
