Abstract
The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cloud computing technologies has
significantly transformed modern educational environments. Traditional Learning
Management Systems (LMS) such as Moodle provide structured platforms for sharing
educational resources, assignments, and assessments; however, they often lack intelligent
real-time academic assistance and personalized learning support. To address these
limitations, this project presents MoodleBot, an LLM-driven Oracle Cloud chatbot designed
for higher education environments, particularly for courses related to Databases and
Information Systems.
The proposed system integrates Large Language Models (LLMs), Natural Language
Processing (NLP), and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) techniques to provide
intelligent, context-aware, and personalized responses to student queries. MoodleBot
interacts with students, teachers, and administrators through a user-friendly web-based
interface and supports functionalities such as real-time question answering, educational
content retrieval, chatbot analytics, document management, and adaptive learning
assistance. The system retrieves relevant academic information from educational resources
including PDFs, lecture notes, assignments, and uploaded course materials to generate
accurate responses.
The project also utilizes Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services to ensure secure cloud
deployment, scalable storage, database management, monitoring, and analytics support.
The backend system was developed using Python and Django, while frontend components
were implemented using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Bootstrap technologies. Database
management systems such as Oracle Database, MySQL, and PostgreSQL were explored for
secure storage and efficient retrieval of educational data.
The implementation of MoodleBot improves student engagement, supports self-regulated
learning, reduces repetitive workload for teachers, and enhances the overall digital learning
experience.
