Magnetic levitation, maglev or magnetic suspension is a method by which an object is suspended with magnetic fields. Magnetic pressure is used to counteract the effects of the gravitational force and any other acceleration. This project dwells on the implementation of an alternate configuration of a wind turbine for power generation purposes. Using the effects of magnetic repulsion, savonius shaped wind turbine blades will be fitted on a rod for stability during rotation and suspended on magnets. Power will then be generated with an axial flux generator, which incorporates the use of permanent magnets and a set of coils. Maglev wind mills have several advantages over conventional wind mills. This new application of maglev technology being used in a vertical axis wind mill is also very advantageous over the conventional horizontal axis wind mill.en_US
