Abstract
The new era of Web and Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm is being enabled by the proliferation of various devices like RFIDs, sensors, and actuators. Smart devices are embedded in the environment to monitor and collect ambient information. In a city, this leads to Smart City frameworks. Intelligent services could be offered on top of such information related to any aspect of humans’ activities. A typical example of services offered in the framework of Smart Cities is IoT-enabled waste management. Waste management involves not only the collection of the waste in the field but also the transport and disposal to the appropriate locations. In our project we have focused on the adoption of smart devices as a key enabling technology in contemporary waste management. Solid waste generated is an ever growing problem at local regions or at global levels. There is no proper disposal of solid wastes that eventually pollute all the components of the green environment (i.e. air, land and water) at regional and global levels. Since there is rapid increase in producing or consumptions, quantity of wastes generated by the urban society has increased. The problem is more severely faced in the developing countries than in the developed countries, as the economic growth as well as urbanization is more rapid. The continuous flow of garbage in all places where people move around creates unhygienic situations which may invoke several injurious diseases among the people. To avoid this increasing accumulation of waste, a smart garbage collection system that will minimize the human contact in person with the garbage is proposed
