dc.description.abstractOne of the techniques used as a digital signal modulation is called Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) in which a single data stream is being spilt across several narrowband channels at different frequencies. This is achieved to reduce the inter symbol interference and cross talk between signals. Large numbers of orthogonal sub carriers that are closely spaced are used to carry the data on several parallel data streams. High bandwidth efficiency and less interference between the closely spaced carriers are achieved by orthogonality. The conventional OFDM system uses Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) as their basic building block. FFT uses cyclic prefix to reduce the inter symbol interference which reduces the spectral efficiency. In order to overcome these disadvantages, we use Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and Dual Tree Complex Wavelet Transform (DTCWT) replacing FFT. We analyze and compare the Bit Error Rate (BER) and Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) performance of DWT OFDM, DTCWT OFDM and FFT OFDM. BER is the percentage of bits with errors divided by the total number of bits that are transmitted or received over a given time period. The working of DTCWT is analyzed using one of its properties and implemented using Verilog.en_US
